Carl and I spent the Super Bowl weekend in the high flying super classy town of Reno, to do some sports betting and have some fun. A great time was had by all.

The day of the Super Bowl we stood at the $5 crap table and basically got paid to drink. It was a long day, and we were decently buzzed by the end of it. But...then we met Sweetness here. Note Sweetness and Carl in a very deep conversation.

The first thing I did was give him his credit card that he dropped, then two seconds later Carl got him his cell phone back. Sweetness offered to buy us all a shot - when we respectfully declined (by saying FUCK NO) he noted that he thought we are all men here - or something like that - he was slurring pretty badly.

Drunk Bear Fans. You are always close to one. Even in Reno.

Soldier Field No Drunks

Chicago is a very cosmopolitan city. We receive millions of tourists from the United States and overseas. And many of them come to view our top museums and attractions, including aquariums & the planetarium.

I always feel pity for those people when they happen to do a tourist-type activity on a Sunday or Monday (or perhaps even Thursday) that coincides with a football game at Soldier Field. For one thing, our parking system is a notorious mess and parking spots are extortionate in terms of pricing on game day, and you can't even get near the stadium due to congestion unless you arrive way early or late, or park nearby and walk.

And for those that do make it there - what do they see? Acres and acres of staggering drunks. I remember bringing a German friend who had seen it all during Oktoberfest and even he was stunned at the number of drunks in the South Lot (which is why we moved to Adler, even we couldn't take it anymore). Unless you are familiar with tailgating or being in the Wrigley Field bleachers or have been to the Preakness (I love the "running of the urinals" look it up on You Tube) a normal person from a normal country doesn't typically see such densely populated groups of drunks. In fact we are the "Manhattan" of drunks - so many people packed wall to wall in the South Lot, with outposts of drunks elsewhere.

When I recently went to the aquarium I had to pause for a minute and take a photo of Soldier Field, no drunks. It seemed odd.

We love the Adler lot, it is WAY better than being in the South Lot with the Mayor and Drunk'n Idiot and all of those guys. But there is a group that always brings this damned jukebox and speakers and blasts sad, sad tunes. The good news is that this creates wonderful betting fodder and great fun with odds. I believe I won a 4-1 $20 bet on the under for the amount of time that Stranglehold by Ted Nugent would be on until someone pulled the plug on it. I believe Carl also lost a bet that "Won't Get Fooled Again" would be on within the next five songs. Sadly, the redistribution of wealth was indeed random that day as the Bears pulled off several first downs costing me my new found wealth inside the game, and those $20 bills floated right back into Carl's wallet from whence they came.

Anyways, these guys play this jukebox WAY too loud and it is stocked with every craptacular song ever recorded. We wish they would just stop. I will admit that they have a nice bar next to the juke.

Security Takes Out A Drunk

Since we are way way up in the cheap seats you don't usually see the (mostly) fat red-jacketed security guards truck all the way up there unless they have a good reason. In the 3rd quarter of the game vs. the Chargers 5 guards came up once and went back down and then they came up again a few minutes late in full force and were really having it out with some classically-drunk Bears fan. I couldn't tell what was going on but someone in the seats near me said that they were fighting with a girl too. The guy was seriously fighting with the guards attempting to land roundhouse punches so I can't imagine that it ended up well for him (and / or the girl he was with) because they were bringing an army of guys and were going to drag him off to do who-knows-what with him. That is a classic ending to a drunk Bear fans evening. Also note the pretty damn obscure Sanzenbacher jersey...

Shirtless Idiot Chargers Fan

It was damn cold at the Bears / Chargers game. Maybe because it was damp and windy or just that we haven't acclimated to the winter yet. In any case it seemed cold to be a shirtless idiot Chargers fan way way up in the cheap seats taunting an army of drunken Bears fan. Not a great plan.

We see people passed out frequently at Bears games or during tailgates. Usually it is during the nicer weather and in my experience they have always been guys. This was a first! A girl was passed out a couple rows from me.

Her boyfriend or whatever was having fun with her he put his phone about 2 inches from her face and took her picture and laughed.

Here he is getting a bit tired of the spectacle and he gets up to drag her off to do whatever he is going to do with her. She isn't much good to him passed out in the cheap seats.

Over at Adler Lot not only is the Bear parking but they also have RV parking (and cash parking too, which is always a disaster because they have like 2 spots and a ton of people pack up and try to get in). At some point drunks always climb up atop their RV's and custom tailgating vans and either start shouting (guys) or dancing (girls). Since these are girls they are dancing.

We ran into this guy who taught us a thing or two about how to drink. Rather than spend $36 for a six pack of 16 ouncers at the bar, this guy bought pitchers for $16 each and drank them right out of that container.

Not sure how many ounces that pitcher is, but it looks like good beer and he is getting a great value, all things considered.

Oddly, the same six sixteen ouncers of cornwater that we paid six bucks for each would have cost 8.50 each at Soldier Field, so if you look at it that way it was still a bargain. Or something.

The Bears vs. Packers game was a 3:15pm start. As we walked out of Adler Lot there was a guy doing Ketel One shots directly out of the bottle right into his mouth (no need for shot glasses) before the game. I asked him if he wanted to be on "Drunk Bear Fans" and first he said no and then put the bottle down but picked it up and changed his mind in the space of about 5 seconds. Also in the 30 or so seconds I watched him he had 3 or so shots (hard to tell since he was swigging them straight out of the big bottle with no chaser).

Not to get too serious here at Drunk Bear Fans but a recent article in Yahoo! called "Time to deal with drunken fans" actually mentions our site on the ol' intertubes.

I've got a friend who, like most Americans, loves just about everything that is the NFL... Some of the other things he sees, he's not so excited about. It's a rare game he attends without someone nearby puking in their seat or equally drunken fans rolling in the next aisle over, fighting each other for who knows what reason. Make sure if you bring a kid, he or she is familiar with the F-word, too. That's about all they'll hear. "Just like being in a tavern on a Saturday night," my friend said.

Yes, we all recognize that. When we bring friends who haven't been up in our cheap seats to an NFL game for the first time they are often astounded by how drunken everyone is and the foul language. Often they are surprised to see the women shouting obscenities at each other too.

I've walked through some of those parking lots several hours before game time, and the amount of drinking that goes on is staggering. By the time many fans actually get into the stadium they're staggering, too, and there are three full quarters — plus halftime — to put away even more booze. They're easy enough to spot in any stadium. If anyone in Chicago needs any more help there's a blog called "Drunk Bear Fans" blog that takes special delight in showing them off in various stages of drunkenness each week of the season.

Hey, that's us. And if you are drunk and staggering around, we do take a special delight in putting you on the ol' intertubes. We are right in the middle of all of it.

As if that isn't enough of a kick to the nads, I get to see the beer vendor guys try to pull every conceivable scam possible to extract as much currency as they can from the unsuspecting consumers. My favorites are "I don't have any change" and "I will be right back with your change". Also classic are simply ignoring the customer's pleas for change and moving on.

But this is a new one. A beer vendor toward the end of the game simply left his cases of empties in the aisle for the hapless patrons to trip over constantly. I think my over/under was three minutes on this bet.

Usually it is just Dan and I having a chuckle here at Drunk Bear Fans, the most important site on the ol' intertubes. Recently we have been getting a lot more visitors and a lot more comments, too, which is great. I looked at the key word searches and "Bear Fans" or "Bears Fans" and Drunk Bear Fans is on the first page for Google! That is kind of hard to believe because a lot of people put effort into traffic search and SEO and the like and we couldn't care less about that here at DBF. Plus there are other Bear fans out there like Baylor, and of course people who like hairy guys known as Bears - maybe I just had "safe search" on. But we are climbing the rankings, thanks to those that want to see "The Lowest Common Denominator" as Dan so aptly named the site.

From a recent article at the Chicago Tribune titled "Drunk Sports Fans: 8% leave game legally intoxicated"

This is for anyone who has ever encountered a drunken fan at a sporting event.

Uh, that's us here at Drunk Bear Fans.

40 percent of the participants had some alcohol in their system and 8 percent were drunk, meaning their blood alcohol content was .08 or higher.

Hmmm... we can do better than that.

The study also found that some groups were several times more likely to be drunk after a game, such as fans age 35 or younger and those who had tailgated before the game.

Now we are talking! That is the core demographic of those at Drunk Bear Fans, although many of the drunkest of all (just search on "Mayor Daley" as we nicknamed the biggest drunk in the South Lot) are older guys that some how keep showing up, every week.

Over here at the most important site on the Internet Drunk Bear Fans we usually run all original content. But a friend of mine sent over this link about an incredibly drunk Bear fan who came home after the win against the Jets and lit the Christmas tree in his house on fire and the firefighters had to come and rescue his 1 year old son. His mother in law is interviewed and she kept mentioning how he'd come back from the Bears game drunk and go crazy so they didn't want him there.

You need to watch to the end of the video - the firefighters and the police are there but the guy comes out in his boxers and no shoes or shirt and it is on tape with the reporters and he manages to out-run the police with no shoes on and was still at large a couple of days later.

Drunk Dude Falls Into Another Row

This big dude in the William Perry refrigerator jersey did what I rarely see - he not only fell over, he fell down into the row beneath him. During that amazing 2006 season run some drunk in the row above me fell down onto my back but he was small and bounced off and I kind of saw him rocking from side to side out of the corner of my eye so I was able to brace myself. Walking through River North I saw a Cedric Benson jersey. Note that someone takes care to update his Wikipedia bio with his most recent arrests, such as the June 2010 arrest for punching a bartender in the face. Ouch. Was his Curtis Enis jersey in the wash?

Well, the long summer months have arrived, but only two months until the pre season! This is a pretty funny documentary, I think my favorite part is when the guy actually shakes after taking a sip of that Old Style can.

Big Search Engine Bing Loves Us

Microsoft renamed their search engine "Bing" and then went out to scan the world. Apparently they stumbled upon the most important site in the world, "Drunk Bear Fans", of course.

If you go into their search engine and type "drunks" or you can just follow this URL right here you will find one of Dan's all time best photos on the 2nd line of the main page, where some dope was basically peeing on Dan's truck in the South lot while tailgating, and Dan put a teeny-weeny little square over the guys' private parts. For Drunk Bear Fans to thrive, we need to keep the drunks adequately filled with alcohol. While you can bring your own in the parking lot, once inside the Stadium it is mostly mass market stuff. But now you can see that the Irish and those that like Guinness also have a new drinking option - the stand seemed pretty idle when I took this photo but I wonder if they can pour fast enough to keep up with the mass volume required to vend at Soldier Field.

Drunk Dude Standing Up

There is nothing wrong with showing your Bears support but this dude was standing up for every play in the first series of the game against the Eagles. He was getting belligerent with everyone which seemed to be a bad omen at the very start of Q1. He also was making his girlfriend cry and then he'd sloppily try to make up for it. They left around the 2nd quarter I think they were in the wrong seats or something and she was just laughing at how hammered he was.

The bathroom situation at Bears' games is always terrible, although it is much better at the Adler Lot than at the South lot, where there are always 1000 people in line. These people got ahead of the game by bringing their OWN porta john... very clever.

Up in the cheap non PSL seats it's a long way to go all the way down to the concessions area to get a beer. So she is getting ahead of the game by bringing up 2 beers for herself. One thing about Bears games is that girls can keep up, too.

Our tailgating is now at the Adler lot so we will get a chance to meet some new drunks, although it will be tough to top the crowd in the South Lot.

Best Mayor Daley Rant Ever

This is probably the longest and best rant by Mayor Daley. Note the added bonus at the end of the stumbling and slipping as well as the passing out of shots for anyone watching by Drunk'n Idiot. South Lot Walk

This really isn't a drunk photo, but one of amazement. One of the mantras of going to a Bear game is to never, ever, ever, EVER eat anything at Soldier Field at ANY COST (except perhaps a bag of peanuts). This family looked to be having breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ugh.

What's my favorite kind of beer? Free beer. You are not allowed to pass this point with any alcohol so the bums strategically place themselves here to get all of the half drunk bottles and cans from people on their way into the game.
